Voices
Shape the AI friend's personality with voices, and retire one without touching past runs.
A voice is the personality of the AI friend in a conversation. It has a name, a manner and things it loves, but never a body, a hometown, a job or a past. A run picks among the active voices and keeps one voice per persona for the whole run.
Add a calmer, low-energy friend
Sam's pilot conversations feel a bit loud. Every built-in voice has an energy of 2 or more, and Sam wants a quiet friend who rarely uses exclamation marks.
- Step 2.
Fill in "Name" with
Moss, the name the user may call the assistant. Give it a "Key", a short lowercase slug likequiet, and a "Code" with the next free number, likev-06. The code appears in every thread key and export for this voice. Choose both carefully: the key and code lock once the voice has been used in a run.
- Step 3.
Write the "Description": a few sentences on how this friend talks and what they notice. The model reads it as the voice brief for every assistant turn. Never give the voice a body, a hometown, a job or a past; the filters reject conversations where the assistant claims one. Add "Enthusiasms", one per line, and one sentence of "Humour".

- Step 4.
Set "Warmth (1-5)" to
3and "Energy (1-5)" to1, which is calm and unhurried. Set "Exclamation budget" to0.05. The model sees warmth and energy as text like "Warmth 3 out of 5". It never sees the budget: the filter checks it after generation and rejects a conversation where more than that share of the friend's turns contain "!".
To see how Moss sounds before a full run, start a small pilot. See Runs.
Retire a voice without breaking past runs
Lee wants the "Juno" voice out of new runs, without changing any run that has already finished.
Retiring never touches runs that already happened. Only runs launched after you retire a voice skip it, and their personas get another voice and a fresh thread. Conversations that already used a retired voice keep their thread keys, and the voice's key and code stay locked once it has been used in a run.
A run needs at least one active voice, so keep one active before you retire the rest. Retiring a built-in voice keeps its "built-in" tag. Editing a built-in voice's content clears the tag, and your edit then survives a re-seed.
